The Hockey Association of Zimbabwe (HAZ) will host its biannual general meeting and elections Saturday.
The meeting will take place at Gateway High School from 0900 hours.
HAZ’s president for the last two years Farai Kanyangarara said that all stakeholders in the hockey fraternity were expected to attend the event.
“We expect all stakeholders to attend this meeting in which a new executive board will be elected into office in line with our constitution.
“Some of the activities that will take place at the meeting include the election of a new subcommittee, to elect the president, and members of the executive and to receive and consider the president’s report,” said Kanyangarara.
He also said one of the issues that would also be discussed at the meeting will be preparation for the hosting Olympic qualifiers after the government committed to refurbishing Khumalo hockey stadium in Bulawayo.
Hockey remains one of the most successful Zimbabwean team sport at international level after the exploits of the “Golden Girls” at the 1980 Olympics where they won a gold medal.
Meanwhile Hippo Valley of Chiredzi is the only local club that will represent the country at the Hockey African Club of Champions in Ghana next month.
