Scripture reference Genesis 1:1-2:3
If you have been tracking with me in the last four series, you should have dealt with fear, self-decampaigning and doubt by now.
God has an assignment for you, believe in yourself as far as God has called you. Be determined and have conviction. Do not be intimidated by circumstances and situations, you have what it takes.
When God was faced with an imposing situation of an earth without form, void and covered in darkness, He did not panic or started to cry.
He did not commit suicide, nor took rat poison neither did He resort to alcohol and drug abuse. Your situation is far much better than what God was facing.
Remember you were created in the image of God. So do not tell me that you will just get someone to sleep with so that at least you have a child, or resort to stealing. Do not give up, be bold and resolute.
And God said, “Let there be light and there was light,” Genesis 1:3 (KJV). In this presentation we shall study the word “Let.” This is the first recorded word out of the mouth of God in the Bible.
Of all the words at His disposal why did He choose this one, what is so special about it? If we fast forward to the New Testament we find out that this is also the first recorded word out of the mouth of Jesus, “And Jesus answering said unto Him, suffer if be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then He suffered Him,” Matthew 3:15 (KJV). The word suffer here means let, permit or allow. You can check with simpler versions of the Bible.
For the principles of God to work in your life, you have to freely let God move in your life. When you go out you then have a superior power inside you to change the outside.
When Jesus was about to begin His ministry, He saw that all Godliness had to be fulfilled first according to the Scripture we read in Matthew 3:15. So fill your inside with Godliness then influence and change the outside.
You have to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of your life so that in His name the outside world will obey you. Never start or do anything without first letting God in. Start your day with God in prayer.
Let God be foremost in your dating, relationships, marriage, company, education, business, project or anything you want to embark on in life.
Commit all things to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith.
Let us look at what the word let means.
Some of the definitions are: to allow or give permission or opportunity, to release from as if from confinement, to actively cause something to happen, to make it possible through a specific action for something to happen, to consent to, to enable, reveal, disclose and admit.
When God said let, He was saying that there is something inside Him that had to be let out and be given opportunity to influence the outside.
He was saying that there is dunamis power inside Him that had to be given chance. Let is not a begging word, though polite, it is forcefully persuasive. Let does not mean may I please or something along those lines. For example, if you say, “Let me show you something,” you are politely commanding us to consider your option and that it is better than what we have.
When you go for an interview, you are telling that panel that you have good stuff, brains etc inside you that they need which you want to let out if given opportunity.
Though you may appear polite and humble, you are telling them that they are not doing well because you are not there yet.
When you submit a business proposal, you are saying you have what they lack and if given opportunity, you will fix the problem.
When a guy approaches a girl, he is saying that he is better and that the girl is lacking and is incomplete without him and that he has to be given an opportunity.
In the ongoing constitution making process, you are saying that you have better ideas than the current ones and want to replace them if given opportunity to release yours.
The real question is, what do you have inside that you want to let out or reveal or release? Is it going to give light or pollute our environment and space because some stuff is better shut off? Next week we shall further unpack the word let.
