A new kid on the local film industry Beauty Tsuro is set to launch her debut movie The Long Night early next month in Harare.
Tsuro, who recently returned from Britain where she was studying film production, said she had directed short films, Ruva Rangu and The Keys while she was still living in the UK. She has just returned home to do her first movie.
She said The Long Night was a 90- minute romantic comedy based on two characters, Sophie played by Nothando Lobengula, and Michael, played by Ashley Mafunga, who have to learn to tolerate each other after getting locked up in a public toilet at a shopping mall by mistake.
“After spending hours stranded in the locked toilet the two ended up falling in love despite their totally different backgrounds and both seem to be in unhappy relationships,” said Tsuro.
Tsuro said the movie is basically a lesson on how people from different backgrounds can fall in love.
The movie is a mixture of comedy, romance, and culture.
She said she was ready to give local audiences something out of the ordinary.
Tsuro, who has her own full package of recording equipment, said she had a cast of 17 people and the movie had been completed.
“With the help of my producer Willard Magombedze, we are currently doing final touches on editing the movie that we are definitely launching at Chocolate City in October,” she said.
Tsuro said although they had challenges with financial resources and shooting venues at the beginning, they were able to overcome them.
Popular young artistes will also feature in the movie soundtrack including Trevor Dongo, Olinda Marowa and DJ Anusa.
