The return of Chamhembe

After a four-year silence the country’s most celebrated series of urban grooves compilations, Chamhembe, is back with the pre-release of 12-track Chamhembe Volume 3, Pembera.

Chamhembe, from That Squad Studios, was a significant contributor to the growth of the urban grooves genre.

Multi-talented producer Tatenda Jenami, aka Tayke 5, is still the proprietor of the hit factory.

The star-studded compilation features renowned artistes in the urban grooves circles as well as new voices.

These include Leonard Mapfumo, who recently launched his second album The Journey, Tererai Mugwadi, Sniper, Cindy Munyavi, Ngoni Kambarami and Mafriq.

Upcoming artiste Brian Godobo, aka BG, comes in with a whole new style of hip hop.

“The music is new age and traditional, a fusion that makes it the new urban grooves. It took us six months to come up with this album because we were trying to come up with a unique sound,” said Tayke 5.

Skilled guitarists Mono Mukundu and Josh Meki as well as percussionist Jah Bee are also featured on the album, which was jointly produced with Kudzi Jones.

That Squad Studios will always be known for unearthing some of the finest urban groovers in the mould of Ngoni Kambarami, Extra Large, Roki, and the group Trinity. The album is expected to be in stores by the end of the month.
