The 2010 African Rally Championship (ARC) winner Jamie Whyte finally got the monkey off his back after cruising to victory in his Subaru Impreza at the Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally Sunday.
Whyte and his co-driver Philip Archenoul, who won the ACR two months ago in Zambia, capped off a fine season with a good display to come ahead of 20 other drivers.
Muna Singh of Zambia and his co-driver David Sihoka finished in second place while Kenyan Quentin Mitchell and Chris Davies claimed the third spot.
Whyte piped Craig Green who had taken the initial lead before mechanical problems to his Mitsubishi Evo 8 forced him out of the challenge at midday.
Stuart Huddon and his co-driver Dave Milner finished fourth together with Evans Shirwin and Malcolm Thornicroft finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
Ian Howden and his co-driver Kirk Gary and Big Chitima and Amos Chimunokara finished sixth and seventh to complete the dominance by Zimbabwean drivers at the challenge.
