Eagles (0) 1
Lengthens (1) 1
A howler by Lengthens defender Levison Banda gifted Eagles a point in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) match played at Rufaro on Wednesday.
Banda received a long ball nine minutes into the second half from the midfield and failed to defend.
Instead of heading the ball away, he chested onto Malvern Dumbura’s feet who made no mistake and packed a fierce shot that gave goalkeeper Muzondiwa Gonese no chance.
Lengthens had taken the lead through Tawanda Muyendi’s header on the stroke of half time.
Eagles had the best chance to score in the 44th minute when they were awarded a penalty by referee Ronald Mwanjira but fluffed the glorious chance.
Lengthens defender Stephen Matsangaise had taken his time to clear the ball and was disposessed by the hard-running Dumbura. In the ensuing melee, Matsangaise wrestled the stocky striker down and Mwanjira did not hesitate to point to the spot.
Mwinga Ephraim’s spot kick was parried for a corner kick by an alert Gonese.
Eagles were made to pay for that penalty miss two minutes later when Lengthens took a surprise lead through a Muyendi header.
