Five armed robbers stormed a supermarket at Entumbane Shopping Centre in the city on Wednesday evening and got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
In a movie-style raid, the robbers walked into the packed supermarket before strategically positioning themselves and opening fire, while ordering everyone to lie down.
The shop manager, who only identified himself as Mr Grey, told NewsDay that the armed robbers walked in as ordinary customers and began shooting indiscriminately into the air.
After grabbing all the money in the tills, the robbers ran out and disappeared into bushes behind the supermarket.
This is the third time in six months that the supermarket has been robbed in the same fashion, where armed robbers walk in and raid the cash tills before disappearing into the nearby bushes.
Acting police spokesperson for Bulawayo, Assistant Inspector Bhekimpilo Ndlovu, declined to comment on the issue saying cases involving armed robbery had of late become sensitive.
A police station in Nkulumane was reportedly robbed of guns early this week.
