Buffalo kills man

A wildlife conservationist, Steve Kok, was killed by a wounded buffalo he was trying to locate in Kariba. The incident occurred last Thursday although his body was found on Friday morning near Charara. Kok was an associate of the Zimbabwe Conservation Taskforce, an organisation promoting wildlife conservation.
Chairman of the taskforce, Jonny Rodrigues, said Kok, who was in his mid-60s, was killed by a buffalo that had lost a leg after being snared two weeks ago.
“A buffalo was snared and lost one of its legs. Permission was sought from the national parks to put down the buffalo,” he said.
“They could not find the buffalo but Steve went looking for it alone. He followed its trail but the buffalo ambushed him, attacked and killed him,” Rodrigues said.
A search party went out to look for Kok after he failed to return to camp. His body was found near his vehicle.
