Families of liberation war heroes buried at the Nkulumane Provincial Heroes’ Acre are appealing to government to increase their allowances in line with the poverty datum line as they were currently starving.
The appeal came as Zimbabwe celebrated the 30th edition of the Heroes’ holiday on Monday.
The families interviewed said government needs to look into their plight as life was now unbearable for them.
Most families were finding it difficult to make ends meet.
Some of the heroes’ children have dropped out of school due to their failure to pay school fees.
