Heroes’ holiday road toll rises

The number of people who have died in road accidents during the Heroes and Defence Forces holidays has risen to 36.

By Monday accidents had claimed 29 lives.

Police National Traffic spokesperson Inspector Tigere Chigome confirmed that six people died Tuesday along the Harare-Masvingo highway.

“Six people died after a truck they were travelling in rammed into a stationary bus. Twelve people were in the vehicle,” said Chigome. “

Drivers have to exercise caution on the roads so that people’s lives are saved. We cannot afford to lose lives out of carelessness and avoidable errors,” he said.
