Mabvuku residents are living in fear of losing their houses after local municipality authorities summoned residents and threatened to auction their houses if they failed to settle outstanding bills.
The residents’ bills range from between $600 to $1200.
Last week emotional residents said they had been ill-treated for a long time as the area has been left unattended and virtually ignored by council.
Councilor for Ward 20, Casper Takura, said he was worried by council threats as residents did not have money to settle bills.
“Tafara residents have been ill-treated for some time and it’s a cause for concern. Last week they got bills as high as $1 200, l don’t know where people will get that kind of money,” he told a full council meeting recently,” said an emotional Takura.
