Young Sables rewarded

-

The Zimbabwe Sevens team manager Bruce Hobson has said some of the players from the victorious Zimbabwe Under-19 rugby side would be included in the senior sevens team.
The Young Sables successfully defended their Confederation of African Rugby Cup last week.
“The Under-19 team’s recent success indicates the strength that we have in our junior rugby structures.
“Coaches, Godwin Murambiwa and Bright Chivandire have said that the challenge remains to harness this talent and make sure that it continues through to senior rugby. In recognition of that, we will be travelling with a few players who are in the junior teams so that we give them the necessary exposure,” said Hobson.
Hobson said the Zimbabwe Sevens also known as the “Cheetahs” and their development team, the Goshawks, will be participating at the Castle Sevens in Zambia at the end of this month and the Middleburg Sevens in South Africa from 17th – 18th of September . The Cheetahs will then take part in the International Rugby Board’s (IRB) tournaments of Dubai and George in December.
“The fact that we are taking the development team gives us the opportunity to look at some of the new young talent that is in abundance,” he said.
Meanwhile, Spar Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Rugby Union and Zimbabwe Sevens Rugby announced the continuation of their partnership for a further three years.
Said Hobson: “This partnership will impact positively on our structuresand will allow us to utilise our current human resources to teach and train future player as we prepare for participation at the Olympics 2016”.
