Singapore-bound Under 15 team in camp

-

The Under-15 boys’ soccer team which will represent Zimbabwe in the Youth Olympics in Singapore next month will play Caps United juniors in their preparations for the Asian expedition.
The boys will be curtain-raisers in the Confederations Cup tie that pits Caps United and Sudan’s Al Hilal at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
They went into camp yesterday at Prince Edward High School and will break camp on Sunday. They regroup next week to join the rest of the Youth Olympic team that is travelling to Singapore.
Project manager for the team, Harry Taruva yesterday said they would have loved for the boys to play international friendly matches before venturing into Singapore but resources were not permitting.
“The Under-15 team gets into camp today (yesterday) and this is their final camp before they get into Team Zimbabwe.
“The boys are going to be curtain-raisers for the Caps United-Al Hilal match on Sunday. They will play Caps United’s Under-15s.
“We would have wished for the boys to play one or two international friendly matches but our resources have not been able to take us to that level,” Taruva said.
The Under-15 coach, Dumaza Dube who travelled to Harare yesterday from his Bulawayo base, confirmed that the boys were going into camp but said he was disappointed that his charges are not going to be given a chance to play international friendly matches before the Asian excursion.
“It is the final camp before we join the rest of the group but I am disappointed that the boys are not going to play any international friendlies. Caps juniors will be fine as training opponents,” Dube said.
