Komichi nabbed

BULAWAYO — MDC-T deputy organising secretary Morgan Komichi was yesterday arrested by police in Lupane on as-yet-to-be ascertained charges.
Sketchy details last night indicated that Komichi was ordered to report to Lupane Police Station by one Detective Inspector Chakaoma stationed at the police base. Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights lawyer Kossam Ncube representing Komichi confirmed last night that Komichi was still detained in Lupane. He said he was yet to be informed of the charges being laid against his client. “I will be travelling to Lupane police station tomorrow (today) to try and ascertain the charges levelled against Komichi. All I know is that he is detained at the police station. I will be there tomorrow to check on him,” said Ncube. Indications last night were that Komichi could have been arrested for taking a swipe at the police for having impounded cars belonging to the MDC-T. One of the cars belongs to MDC-T leader Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai. The vehicle, a BMW X5 was impounded by the police in Lupane in the run-up to the March general election in 2008. It is believed police want Komichi to “clarify” allegations he made against the police when he addressed a rally at Negasha Stadium in Lupane in February this year.
