National pride will be at stake tomorrow when the Zimbabwe Sables host Kenya at Harare Sports Club in a dead rubber of the Tri-Nations Victoria Cup.
Sables manager Noddy Kanyangarara told NewsDay that while the Sables were aware that a victory will have no bearing on the competition they had instructed the team to give their best for the sake of national pride.
“Even though we know that we won’t win the title anymore, in international rugby every match has a huge bearing on the international rankings and we want to continue on the rise as it would develop our rugby,” said Kanyangarara.
The Sables have been on a rise on the International Rugby Board rankings following their victories in the Pool C matches of the CAR Africa Cup.
In tomorrow’s match, captain Rockface Gurumani and South African-based prop Vakai Hove are the only foreign-based players in the 24-man squad named by coach Brendan Dawson.
