Warriors retain Fifa ranking

The Warriors have retained 110th position on the latest Fifa rankings released by the football governing body yesterday.
Norman Mapeza’s men, who saw off the Seychelles 2-0 in their last match at Rufaro Stadium in the African Nations Championships final qualifier, did not move on the latest log which is being led by world champions Spain.
They also retained their place as the 27th best team in Africa.
Neighbours Botswana’s excellent 1-0 win in Tunisia, followed by a 1-0 home success over Chad in their 2012 Nations Cup qualifiers saw them jump a massive 23 places in the rankings to number 93. For a team that has reached the Africa Cup of Nations finals twice, in 2004 and 2006, to plummet so low behind the likes of Botswana is really a cause for concern for the Warriors and Zifa.
The Warriors will start their campaign for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations final on September 4 with an away tie against Liberia and they will also play Mali and the Cape Verde Islands in the same group.
