Weekend entertainment round–up

As the weekend draws closer, party lovers can start getting ready as a number of entertainment and leisure activities are lined up at several spots in and around Harare.
Sungura maestro Aleck Macheso will be exhibiting his fine footwork and lyrical prowess at Extra Mile Leisure Spot tonight. The menu will be diverse, as those from the older generation who did not get enough from Leonard Dembo will get a golden chance to go down memory lane as his progenies, Morgan and Tendai will be belting it out alongside Macheso.
Harare’s prime arts centre, the Book Café, will be invaded by the ladies as they do their thing tomorrow afternoon in the Sistaz Open Mic session. There will be a gourmet meal where you can take your pick – dance, music and poetry.
Those who always want to be in touch with their African roots cannot afford to miss out on this event as it will be a celebration of Ubuntu, featuring Linda ‘Poetic Angel’ Gabriel, E.V.E. Kawadza, among other gifted performers.
Urban grooves lovers will not lose out as Tererai Mugwadi and Alexio Kawara, currently riding on the crest of the wave with his album – Shaina – will be performing at the Zimbabwe-Germany society tomorrow night ahead of the live screening of the World Cup third place play-off featuring Germany and Uruguay. They will also play during the half- time break and after the match. The two young groovers have refined their music to cut across generational boundaries and now appeal to both the young and the old. The Chibuku Road to Fame will also be happening tomorrow at Mushandirapamwe Hotel in Highfield. Ten music groups will be battling for honours.
