The Zimbabwe Under- 19 cricket squad needs to win the third match against South Africa at Harare Sports Club today to keep the series alive.
The South Africans lead the series 2-0 after labouring to a one-wicket victory over Robin Brown’s charges on Monday, in an improvement by the hosts.
While the attack had generally improved, captain Peter Moor however observed that the batsmen were giving away cheap wickets.
“The pitch did well to assist our spinners and they did a fine job today (Sunday) with the ball but our batting eventually let us down,” said captain Peter Moor after the Sunday loss.
However, they did rebound to offer better play on Monday after Brown made five changes: Malcolm Lake, Kudzai Sauramba, Tom Stone, Tinotenda Mutombodzi and Brian Chari came in for Dean Mazhawidza, Roy Kahiya, Kudakwashe Munyede, Atish Chouhan and Scot Daly for Monday’s match.
Today, South Africa can take an unassailable lead by winning today’s encounter but the hosts also have an opportunity to keep the series alive by pulling off a shock victory.
