All set for Miss Teen Zim pageant

Twenty-five girls from different parts of the country battle out for the crown of the world’s most prestigious teenage beauty pageant next Saturday.

The long awaited Miss Teen Zimbabwe pageant has finally been set for this month-end in the capital and will see beautiful young girls of all races in Zimbabwe cat-walking for the first position.

Young models from Mutare, Nyanga, Bulawayo, Gokwe, Chitungwiza and 10 from Harare are set to wow beauty pageant enthusiasts at Seasons Restaurant next week.

The competition is stiffer this year as two models, one from Zimbabwe and another from South Africa are representing Africa at the Miss Teen world pageant in Texas on August 9. Whoever qualifies as Miss Teen Zimbabwe goes to Texas this August.

Other prizes to be won include a brand new Nissan March, $1 000, cell phones, and Gift packs.

Miss Teen Zimbabwe pageant director, Sandra Chawabvunza in an interview yesterday said that the pageant was successful in all the towns and that she is confident the national finals next week will be sensational.

“The girls know what is at stake and considering that they did well in the provincial pageants, I am sure they will do their level best,” said Chawabvunza.

“We want to bring home The Miss Teen World crown and keep it in Africa because the reigning Miss Teen World is a South African.”

She added that some of the Miss Teen winners of the provincial competitions have already been identified by advertising agencies and fashion houses for their commercials and publications whilst some like reigning Miss Teen Harare, Liezelle Jenkins are already charging appearance fees.

Artists performing at the pageant include Trevor
Dongo and songstress Diana Samkange of the Handichada fame.

Negotiations with Cynthia Mare were still in progress at the time of going to print.
