Zimbabwe Sables off to Uganda for Tri-Nations Cup

The Zimbabwe Sables left last night for Kampala Uganda, for their second Tri-Nations Victoria Cup, against the hosts on Saturday.
The game kicks off at 1530hrs at the Kampala Rugby Club.
The Victoria Cup is Africa’s newest rugby competition and Africa’s own version of the Tri Nations Cup, also involving Kenya.
The Brendon Dawson coached side regrouped on Tuesday after last week’s narrow 11-10 away loss to Kenya. The Sables will be hoping for better fortunes on the road against a well drilled Ugandan side which was the highest ranked of the three sides before the start of the tournament.
The Cranes of Uganda are ranked 44 while Zimbabwe’s Sables are on position 48 according to the latest rankings released early this week by the International Rugby Board (IRB).
This week Uganda has been sharpening their skills in the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) Cup which also included Tanzania, Mauritius and Kenya.
So the Sables will have to be well prepared as they will be meeting a side that has always enjoyed a good record against Zimbabwe in recent years.
Brendon Dawson and his charges will be under no illusion about the task at hand and nothing short of a victory will brighten their chances of winning the inaugural competition. Zimbabwe will be hosting both Kenya and Uganda next month in reverse fixtures in the series.
