Alexio Gwenzi popularly known as ‘Goodchild’ who got popular in 2005 for his hit song “Fadzai” expects to launch a new album in October.
The album will include songs like “Usatye” and “Takasikirwana” and will also feature other Urban Groovers which include ExQ, Cindy, Trevor Dongo, Madiz and Nasty Trix to mention a few.
“My fans can expect a different package this time round. This album will be different from the first two and it will also reflect team work amongst the Urban Groovers,” Gwenzi said.
Good child became popular in 2005 when his song “Fadzai” hit the charts while at the same time his video became one of the most popularly played on Ztv.
“I thank God for “Fadzai” because it made me who I am today and I understand that if you want to sell, you give your fans variety,” he said.
He said that he got his inspiration from Oliver Mtukudzi who, over the years, has become an ambassador for Zimbabwean music.
Goodchild discovered his talent in 1997 when he decided to join the school choir while in primary school at a school in Kwekwe.
“I’m here to prove that small towns can also produce big people,” he said.
He said that he wrote his own songs and his lyrics were inspired by his life experiences.
Goodchild is currently doing television presentation for ZBC where he hosts host the programme “Knowledge Checkpoint” that shows every Tuesday afternoon.
He said that he was thankful to his supportive family members who had stood by him since he began his career.
“My latest album is dedicated to my girlfriend Portia Hazel although not all of the songs are love songs,” he said.
The latest Goodchild album is expected to be launched on October 7 which is his birthday.
