The Zimbabwe Rugby Sevens team is set to leave for Hong Kong to participate in a rugby sevens invitational tournament to be held from March 21.
The team has been invited alongside sevens powerhouse France, Italy, Argentina, South Africa, Ireland, Argentina and Kenya.
The team will go into camp this week at Old Georgians Sports club.
Goshawks player and St Johns College coach Scott Genes said the tournament taking place at
St Johns this Sunday would provide a platform for team selection.
The tournament involves schools that include Prince Edward, Eaglesvale, Hellenic and St. Johns Under-14 and Under-16 teams.
The main match will pit Mashonaland and Matabeleland select sides.
“We will use the match on Sunday to select our team and to sharpen our skills ahead of the Hong Kong tourney,” said Genes.
“This is part of our efforts to improve the game at junior level in preparation for the 2016 Olympic games and to build confidence among the young players. This will also improve the standards of the game,” he added.
