Chikoko Angola move

The anticipated move to Angola by promising basketball star Vitalis “Alefu” Chikoko is still in limbo, months after the Dzivarasekwa Raiderz star impressed Angolan coaches.

Vitalis made headlines last year at the Zone Six games in Harare after marking Angolan veteran Joaquim Gomez out of the game.

This left many teams soliciting for his signature, but the anticipated move to Angola remains work in progress and his coach Ngoni Mukukula has chosen to remain tight-lipped about the issue. The Prince Edward gangly centre forward says he is in the dark about what is happening.

“I don’t really know what is happening now. My coach (Mukukula) is not saying anything and the e-mail I personally sent to Angola is yet to be responded to,” said the over two metres tall ‘Alefu’.

Chikoko said that he believes he has what it takes to venture into top league basketball. Alefu’s move was set to see him off to the US for training before coming to Angola where the league is reportedly competitive.

Last week Mukukula told NewsDay that the anticipated move by Vitalis needed divine intervention and lots of prayers for it to become reality.

Despite the delayed move, Vitalis remains keyed on his game and had a fantastic game last week at a schools tournament in Harare.
