No progress yet on RBZ Amendment bill

Progress on the Committee Stage of the Reserve Bank Amendment Bill will be further stalled as senators failed to debate the nine proposed amendments by Chimanimani senator, Monica Mutsvangwa (Zanu PF) and one by Chisipite senator, Obert Gutu (MDC-T).

Senators on Tuesday argued that they did not have copies of the amendments which formed the basis of their debate.

Mutsvangwa also took this opportunity to castigate the Minister of Finance Tendai Biti (MDC-T) for crafting a Bill, which she said was aimed at power changes in Zimbabwe.

“This Bill as we look at it is a Bill of disharmony. People are spending their time politicking instead of working,” said Mutsvangwa as she debated clause 2 of the amendments”.

Senator David Coltart (pictured), the Minister of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture reminded Mutsvangwa to confine her debate to the clauses of the Bill and to stop accusations against Biti.

Senate was adjourned to March 9.
