Kumbula Mazwi the principal at Foundation College in Old Tafara, Harare was hauled before the courts on Thursday for defrauding two students of $400.

The state alleges that on January 10 this year, Godwin Muchalanje, his brother Edwin and their mother went to the school to pay fees but the bursar had gone home.

Mazwi allegedly took the money promising to hand it over to the school bursar the following day.

As days went on, the boys were threatened with expulsion as it became apparent that the fees had not been forwarded to the bursar.

The boy’s parents then lodged a report with the police leading to Marwi’s arrest.

Mazwi appeared before magistrate Gamuchirai Siwadi who remanded him out of custody on US$20 bail.
