Zambia threatens to switch off Zesa
NewsDay Staff ·

ZAMBIA’S State-owned power provider, Zesco Limited, may cut off 100 megawatts (MW) to Zimbabwe today over a US$7 million debt owed by its southern neighbour.
Zimbabwe also owes over US$100 million to other regional players that are also threatening to cut off power to the economically-troubled southern African nation.
Zimbabwe is currently importing between 300MW and 450MW from South Africa’s State-owned power utility Eskom Hld SOC Ltd and Mozambique’s government-owned Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB) and Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) and Zesco.
