The group comprising of major Ukraine tour operators and media houses, including KyivskRus Travel Agency, Mirturizina Travel Magazine and MT Media Publishing is currently on a familiarisation tour to sample the products in Great Zimbabwe, Gweru, Matopos, Hwange and Victoria Falls.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive officer Karikoga Kaseke said the country required all the positive publicity it could get to ensure maximum coverage of the destination.

“Naturally, we are excited to host the Ukrainian team and we believe that this visit will go a long way in adding spur to our marketing efforts in Europe. “Ukraine falls under our secondary markets in Europe and it is important to tap into such almost unchartered territory,” Kaseke said.

“This calibre of visitors is strategic in that we are able to extract immense value if they can promote Zimbabwe on our behalf.”

MT Media Publishing House chief executive officer Vladimir Mazur expressed enthusiasm to profile Zimbabwe to the Ukrainian market.

“We are happy to be in Zimbabwe as it is our first time and we want to promote it as we are already selling Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania and other countries,” he said.

“So far judging from the areas we have already visited, Zimbabwe has proved to be a beautiful country endowed with natural wonders, no wonder it is called ‘A World of Wonders’ and the Ukrainian people will be educated about this destination through this expedition and will definitely want to visit in their numbers once we show them what Zimbabwe has to offer.”
