CHAMPIONS Dynamos have finally given striker Rodreck Mutuma the all clear to go for trials with South African Premiership Bloemfontein Celtic this week after receiving official communication from the club.

Dynamos spokesperson Webster Chikengezha said they had given Mutuma the nod to go for trials after receiving communication from Bloemfontein Celtic.

“We have now received official communication from Bloemfontein Celtic and we have cleared Mutuma to go for trials. We will meet with his manager tomorrow (Monday) and he should be going any time this week. We will see what happens after the trials,” said Chikengezha.

Initially, Dynamos had said they would not release any of the players they registered for the 2013 African Champions League for trials with any club.

However, Mutuma – who is set to leave for South Africa tomorrow – has been pleading with the DeMbare leadership to allow him to go for trials. He was granted his wish at the weekend after the team got a formal invitation.

Mutuma – who won the Golden Boot Award in the 2011 soccer season although he failed to regain the same form the following season – is part of the DeMbare 2013 African Champions League squad.

The lanky striker continues to attract interest in South Africa, with Bloemfontein Celtic being the first club to officially declare their interest in him.

South African football giants Orlando Pirates and National First Division side Dynamos have also expressed interest in the player.

DeMbare, however, have signed Stephen Alimenda, Sydney Linyama, Artwell Mukandi, Russell Madamombe and Francesco Zvikumbawire to bolster their 2013 campaign.

They are also expected to conclude a deal for Zambian international defender Aaron Katebe today as they await the arrival of his manager George Kaindu from Zambia, who was due in the capital last night.

Katebe is also being pursued by FC Platinum, but the lure of the Champions League has seen Dynamos emerging favourites to sign him.

The defender, who played for Hwange last season and earned his first senior cap for the African champions, has also declared he wants to play for Dynamos.

If he completes his move, it will be a huge relief for coach Kalisto Pasuwa, who no longer has George Magariro, David Kutyauripo and Guthrie Zhokinyi.
