The Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires comprises umpires who are nominated by their home boards and accredited by the ICC.

In this case, Zimbabwe Cricket nominated Tiffin and Chirombe as the infield umpires while Matibiri is the third umpire.

Umpires on this panel can be assigned to all three international formats of the game; Test cricket, one-day internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20s as well as the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Club.

Tiffin (53), a veteran umpire who has stood in 44 Tests, 126 ODIs and four Twenty20s is by far the most experienced of the local officials having previously served on the ICC Elite panel of Umpires from 2002-2004.

Chirombe, who has stood on eight ODIs and four Twenty20s, is the second most experienced of the local officials.

The 39-year-old Chirombe took up umpiring as a full-time job in 2009 and has officiated at a number of overseas tournaments which include the 2005 Under-19 Afro-Asia Cup in Sharjah, India, the Under-19 2009-10 World Cup which was held in New Zealand and last year’s Under-19 World Cup in Australia.

Matibiri, who has had limited international exposure, having stood in just four Twenty20s was named as the only third umpire.

The Zimbabwean trio joins former Zimbabwe cricketer and national team selector Andy Pycroft who has been a member of the Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees since 2009.
