Zim Alloys had its property valued at over $500 000 attached by the Deputy Sheriff last Friday over unpaid electricity bills.

ZIMBABWE’s sole ferrochrome producer Zim Alloys had its property valued at over $500 000 attached by the Deputy Sheriff last Friday over unpaid electricity bills.

  The attached property included nine light vehicles, three buses, three caterpillars and office furniture.

  The warrant of execution against the property was issued by High Court judge, Justice November Mtshiya last year under case number 3085/11. In a letter dated September 12 this year, Zesa’s lawyer Tendai Masawi instructed the Deputy Sheriff to attach the company’s movable property.

  “May you proceed to attach and take into execution the goods of Zimbabwe Alloys (Pvt) Ltd of Bristol Road, Gweru. May you realise the sum of $567 283,25 which the plaintiff recovered by judgment of High Court on 30th of May 2011, attached hereto. Additionally find attached the bond of indemnity and warrant of execution,” Masawi wrote.

  According to court papers, Zim Alloys had not paid for power supplies for the period January 2009 to December 2010.

  The bills in question were accumulated at Zim Alloys’ subsidiary firms namely Inyaka Mine, The Slag Plant, Methaburn Mine, Lalapanzi and Inyala low-density residential area.
